(S)-Aspartate semi-aldehyde CAS 2338-03-6
FC-300
L-Aspartate-4-semialdehyde
A natural non-proteinogenic amino acid and a key intermediate in the biosynthesis of the essential amino acids in higher plants and bacteria. ASA is often used to investigate enzymatic biosynthetic pathways including intermediates in aspartate-derived amino acid (L-lysine, L-methionine, L-threoine and L-isoleucine) and early aromatic amino acid (chorismate-derived) synthesis.
It also represents a relevant synthetic intermediate with access to polyfunctional unnatural amino acid structures and natural products.1
